Thermador wall oven technology
Thermador wall ovens come in Masterpiece and Professional collections, with single, double, and industry-exclusive triple oven configurations. The Professional series features the SoftClose door — a hydraulic hinge system that prevents slamming and ensures a smooth close. Steam and speed oven variants add water management systems and microwave components that increase repair complexity.
Thermador’s True Convection system uses a dedicated third heating element behind the fan, providing even heat distribution without the need for rack rotation. This ring-element design requires Thermador-specific replacement parts sized exactly for the oven cavity.
What a Thermador oven service visit includes
Diagnosis covers element testing, temperature sensor verification, door seal inspection, and control board interrogation. For steam ovens, the water system — reservoir, generator, drain — is inspected and descaled if needed. Genuine OEM parts, 30-day labor warranty.
Our Thermador oven repair process
Every Thermador oven repair follows a structured diagnostic process:
- Error code retrieval: We connect to the control board and pull stored fault codes and operational history
- Component testing: Each suspected component is tested individually with Thermador-specific diagnostic equipment
- Root cause identification: We identify the actual failure, not just the symptom — preventing repeat service calls
- Repair with OEM parts: Genuine Thermador replacement parts installed to factory specifications
- Verification: Post-repair test cycle confirms the issue is resolved and no secondary faults exist

Frequently asked questions about Thermador wall ovens
What is True Convection?
True Convection uses a dedicated third heating element behind the fan. Standard convection just circulates heat from the bake/broil elements with a fan. True Convection provides more even heat distribution across all racks without needing to rotate pans.
What does SoftClose mean?
Professional series wall ovens feature hydraulic hinge dampers that prevent the door from slamming. The door closes smoothly and silently from any angle. If your Professional oven door starts slamming, the hydraulic damper pistons need replacement.
How often should I self-clean?
No more than 3-4 times per year. Excessive self-clean cycles stress thermal fuses, door locks, and the oven cavity enamel coating. For routine cleaning, use baking soda paste instead.
Can I use my oven during a steam system descale?
No — the descale cycle uses the oven cavity. The process takes about 45 minutes. Plan around it. Steam ovens should be descaled quarterly (monthly in hard water areas).
What’s the advantage of a triple wall oven?
Thermador is the only brand offering three independent oven cavities. You can bake, broil, and roast at three different temperatures simultaneously — ideal for holiday cooking or entertaining.
