No ice production
Check the water supply valve — is it fully open? Inspect the water filter — a clogged filter dramatically reduces water flow. Check if the fill tube is frozen (a warm washcloth can thaw it). Verify the ice maker is turned on (some have a small switch or lever). Check if the bin-full sensor is blocked by frost.
Small or hollow ice cubes
Low water pressure is the most common cause. The inlet valve needs at least 20 PSI to fill the ice mold properly. Replace the water filter — a restricted filter reduces flow. Check for a partially frozen fill tube allowing only a trickle of water.
Ice tastes bad
Replace the water filter (every 6 months). Empty the ice bin and discard stale ice. Clean the bin with warm water and baking soda. If taste issues persist after a fresh filter and bin cleaning, the water supply itself may need testing.
Water leaking
Check all water line connections — the supply line, the inlet valve connections, and the drain line. A cracked fill tube can leak during the fill cycle. If water pools only during ice making (not continuously), the fill valve may be dripping.
