When to replace
Every 6 months or when the filter indicator light turns on. If ice production drops, water flow from the dispenser slows, or ice/water develops an off-taste, replace the filter regardless of the indicator status.
Locating the filter
On most Thermador models, the water filter is located inside the refrigerator compartment — either in the upper-right corner (pull-down housing) or in the base grille at the front bottom of the unit. Check your model’s manual for the exact location.
Replacement steps
1. Turn off the ice maker. 2. Turn the old filter counterclockwise (or press the release button, depending on model) and pull out. 3. Remove the cap from the old filter and transfer it to the new one (if applicable). 4. Insert the new filter and turn clockwise until it locks. 5. Run 3 gallons of water through the dispenser to flush the new filter (the water may be cloudy initially — this is normal). 6. Reset the filter indicator.
Resetting the filter indicator
Press and hold the filter reset button for 3-5 seconds until the indicator changes from red to green. The exact button varies by model — check the control panel for a filter icon or refer to the manual.
Using genuine filters
Thermador recommends genuine replacement filters for proper flow rate and contaminant reduction. Third-party filters may fit physically but can restrict water flow (causing low ice production) or fail to meet NSF certification standards for contaminant removal.
