Induction glass cleaning
Clean after every cooking session — dried spills become progressively harder to remove. Use a dedicated cooktop cleaner (not regular glass cleaner — it leaves residue that affects pan detection on Freedom Induction). For stuck-on food, use a cooktop scraper held at a 30° angle while the surface is still slightly warm. Sugar spills are an emergency — clean immediately while the glass is still warm, or the sugar can bond permanently to the ceramic surface.
Star Burner cleaning
Weekly: remove burner caps, clear all flame ports with a pin or thin wire (never a toothpick — wood breaks inside ports). Wash caps in warm soapy water, dry completely before replacing. The cap must sit flat and aligned with the burner base — misalignment causes uneven flame and ignition problems. Monthly: clean the igniter ceramic tip with fine sandpaper to remove cooking residue.
Cast-iron grate care
- Wash with hot soapy water and dry immediately — cast iron rusts fast
- Apply a thin coat of cooking oil after drying to prevent oxidation
- Never put in the dishwasher — detergent strips the seasoning
- For heavy buildup, soak overnight in hot water with baking soda, then scrub
- Re-season after deep cleaning: coat with vegetable oil and heat on low for 15 minutes
Electric radiant surface
Same cleaning approach as induction glass. The key difference: radiant elements glow red when hot, making it obvious which zones are active. Wait for the residual heat indicator to clear before cleaning.
